2007 4-H Provincial Programs Listing

2007 NB 4-H VOLUNTEER LEADERS OPPORTUNITIES/PROGRAM

Listed below are all the 2007 opportunities available to all Screened Volunteer Leaders.  If you are interested in any of these, please complete the attached application form and return it to:

Phone (506) 324-6244; fax 325-9266, or e-mail nb4h@nbnet.nb.ca .  All clubs must be clubs in good standing (for example, all membership fees paid) with the NB 4-H Council in order for 4-H leaders and members to be eligible to participate in provincial 4-H activities.  Deadline for applications for all opportunities/programs is January 31, 2007.

CHAPERONE THE N.B. 4-H INTERMEDIATE MEMBERS CONFERENCE

WHO:  4-H leaders to chaperone approximately 30 members aged 12 through 14.

WHAT: A fun-filled weekend filled with lots of games, social recreation and focusing on issues concerning today's young teens. 

WHEN: March 2-4, 2007

WHERE: Sussex, N.B.

COST: Transportation to and from the conference is the responsibility of the leader.  A delegate list will be mailed out to all applicants to facilitate car-pooling.

CHAPERONE THE N.B. 4-H SENIOR MEMBERS CONFERENCE

WHO: 4-H leaders to chaperone approximately 30 4-H members aged 15-21.

WHAT: A fun-filled conference in which members will participate in social recreation and workshop sessions focusing on issues concerning today's young people.

WHEN: Mar.30-Apr.1, 2007

WHERE: Fredericton, N.B.

COST: Transportation to and from the conference is the responsibility of the leader.  A delegate list will be mailed out to facilitate in car-pooling.

CHAPERONE THE NB 4-H ANNUAL CANOE TRIP

WHO: 4-H members 13 years of age and over, leaders & parents.  All are welcome!

WHAT: A well-supervised weekend canoe trip and camping expedition, which will include skits, swimming, bonfires and fun!  Please try to arrange for your own canoe.  Life jackets are a must.  All activities/sessions will be carried out in English. 

WHEN: May 19-21, 2007

WHERE: Kennebecasis River, N.B.

COST: Transportation to and from the trip is the responsibility of the leader.

CHAPERONE/STAFF THE N.B. 4-H CLOVERBUD AND JUNIOR MEMBERSCONFERENCE & CAMP

WHO: 4-H leaders to chaperone/staff approximately 30 members between ages 7 and 11.

WHAT: A 3-day camp & conference where members participate in sessions ranging from promoting 4-H and crafts to the great outdoors.  Campfires, ghost stories and swimming also make up an important part of 4-H Camp Life.  All activities/sessions will be carried out in English.

WHEN: June 15-17, 2007

WHERE: Caton's Island, Brown's Flat, N.B.

COST: Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the 4-H leader.

CHAPERONE THE NB 4-H WILDERNESS SURVIVAL CANOE TRIP

WHO: 4-H members 13 years of age and over, leaders & parents.  All are welcome!

WHAT: A well-supervised weekend canoe trip and camping expedition, which will include the opportunity to travel along the river with all your supplies, tents, etc. and try different survival activities.  Please try to arrange for your own canoe.  Life jackets are a must.  All activities/sessions will be carried out in English. 

WHEN: June 22-24, 2007

WHERE: Portage River,   N.B.

COST: Transportation to and from the trip is the responsibility of the leader.

CHAPERONE THE E.B.I 4-H SHOWCASE

WHO: NB will be sending one chaperone to assist in chaperoning 15 4-H dairy project members and 10 4-H beef project members 14 years of age and over.  Members from the other Atlantic Provinces will attend.  The conference is sponsored by Eastern Breeders Inc. 

WHAT: A very intense, informative, and fun conference, which is a valuable supplement to the 4-H dairy and beef programs.  Leaders will be expected to carry out all chaperone duties and in any free time may observe the sessions.  All activities/sessions will be carried out in English.

WHEN: June 27-29, 2007

WHERE: NSAC campus in Truro, Nova Scotia.

COST: $100.00 registration fee (to be reimbursed by the NB 4-H Council).  Transportation to and from the event is the responsibility of the 4-H leader.

CHAPERONE THE N.B. SENIOR 4-H MEMBERS VAN TOUR

WHO:  4-H leaders to chaperone 4-H members aged 16 and over.

WHAT: A weekend camping trip where members will be traveling by van.  Members will be camping and touring places of interest.

WHEN: June 29 –July 2, 2007.

WHERE: Tour of New Brunswick

COST: At least $100.00.  Persons selected are also responsible to help with fundraising or soliciting sponsorship to help cover the cost of the trip – vans, gas, campsites, etc.

CHAPERONE THE N.B. 4-H WILDERNESS RETREAT

WHO: 4-H leaders to chaperone approximately 20 4-H members 13 years old and over.

WHAT: A camping weekend where participants will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in such areas as wilderness survival, map and compass skills, and knowledge of plant and animal habitat.

WHEN: October 19-21, 2007

WHERE:        Southampton, N.B.

COST: Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the leader.
